Learn the benefits of taking moms-to-be from traditional Matwork variations to select exercise modifications on the Reformer in this workshop, developed by the Merrithew™ team. Using current exercise guidelines provided by the ACOG and bearing in mind common anatomical and physiological changes, appropriate STOTT PILATES® exercise adaptations are explored using the Reformer in innovative and beneficial ways. Workout safety and effectiveness remain paramount and the client’s risk factors, pre-pregnancy fitness level, health concerns and fitness goals are to be taken into account when creating new and ongoing programs.

This workshop provides instructors tools to incorporate new fascial research concepts within the body of the STOTT PILATES Essential Matwork repertoire. Following the Essential Matwork order, participants explore how exercise essences can be enhanced with new fascial research concepts, inspiring a new movement experience. Created by the experts at Merrithew™, discover seamless movement flowing exercise sequences that take the body through multiple planes of movement. This workshop will spark creativity in programming and allow participants to tap into their innate body wisdom to find alternate variations that best suit their movement potential on any given day.

Discover a new and intensive core training workout, developed by the Merrithew™ team, featuring the Stability Cushions™. Controlling instability with a pair of cushioned disks requires activation of the stabilizing muscles of the torso, shoulders and hips. Exercises are designed to elicit greater proprioceptive awareness and recruit the deep support systems of the whole body while developing greater coordination and control. Discover a new facet to Matwork programs that increase body awareness and core stability in movements that bridge the gap between simple core training routines and functional movement patterns necessary in athletic conditioning.

The Stability Chair™ can be an ultra-effective, compact piece of equipment for specially designed athletic conditioning workouts. Learn a variety of exercises that can benefit any level of an athlete by retraining imbalanced muscles and building on the strength and agility of the whole body. This well-rounded workout, developed by the Merrithew™ team, provides functional movements against spring resistance in a variety of positions that train core stability while working bilaterally, unilaterally or reciprocally with the limbs to enhance sport-specific performance or everyday life.

This extreme Reformer workshop developed by the Merrithew™ team draws from the unique and challenging exercises from previous athletic conditioning workshops and intensifies them. The result is a series of advanced-level moves that place major emphasis on sthe trength and stability of the upper body. This demanding program is presented more as a collection of exercises that can be woven into any other workout and less as a full workout on its own.

Getting ready for the golf season just got easier with this new focus and conditioning program on the V2 Max Plus™ Reformer developed by the programming specialists at Merrithew™. Beginning with standing warmup drills, we examine the breath and how it can be optimized to effectively bring mental focus to the game. Next, we analyze the biomechanics of an excellent golf swing by bringing awareness to the neuromuscular, skeletal and fascial systems to develop the proper patterning for efficiency and power.
Exercises used by the world’s leading golf professionals are adapted to the multi-functional Reformer, which provides support and added resistance while challenging balance. Learn how to use this innovative material to increase mobility with stability of the hips and shoulder girdle, while stabilizing the knees and ankles in order to implement the necessary torso rotation for an efficient swing.

This workshop is designed to provide instructors with tools to fine-tune their programs and help their client’s overall physical condition. By combining traditional and newer training protocols including STOTT PILATES Biomechanical Principles, Foundational Movement Patterns, and the Merrithew Fascial Movement Variables along with additional factors, learn to assess your client’s established movement patterns. Then, starting with self-assessment in standing, encourage subjective evaluations with multi-planar movements within a dynamic warm-up to identify individual movement default strategies that can hinder exercise training goals. Participants have an opportunity to work together to discover creative ways of implementing light equipment like the Stability Barrel Lite, Toning Balls and Flex Bands applying the theory with movement to resolve these strategies.

Shoulder issues can sideline an athlete and make life difficult for anyone. This lecture/demo-style workshop, created by the Merrithew™ team, takes an in-depth look at the shoulder complex and discusses post-rehabilitative exercise options using a variety of Pilates equipment. After gaining a better understanding of the anatomy, biomechanics and ideal functioning of the complex, review some of the most common injuries and conditions. Armed with this information, thoughtful and purposeful exercise progressions can be developed with equipment ranging from small props like the Flex-Band®, Fitness Circle® and Toning Balls™, to larger pieces like the V2 Max Plus™ Reformer, Stability Chair™ and Cadillac. Exercises will be targeted to restoring normal movement patterns, improve ROM, address scapula-humeral rhythm, develop strength and prepare the client to return to daily activities or sport performance.

Stability with mobility and explosive power are key elements of a great golf swing, but how can off-course training help? A targeted dynamic warm-up followed by specific conditioning exercises, can significantly improve golf performance and increase club head speed. Another new addition to the Merrithew™ Athletic Conditioning Track, this golf-specific workshop features a warm-up that incorporates weighted Toning Balls providing added resistance, neuromuscular challenge and range of motion movements. These prepare the body physically, while directed breathing cues help encourage mindfulness, focus and awareness. The strengthening program that follows brings these elements together and facilitates increased quality of movement, providing the optimal balance of mobility and stability, crucial components in improved performance.
